WHAT DOES YOUR PANCREAS DO FOR YOU?

“Sugar-Use it to season people.”

Let's break down what is most important to know.

What does your Pancreas do for you?

The Pancreas plays a giant role in digestion. It is a gland organ that extends 6 to 8 inches long, horizontally across the abdomen. It enhances your digestive experience by producing important enzymes and hormones that help break down food. It also has a primary function of creating the hormone insulin-- this hormone regulates blood glucose or sugar levels.

A healthy pancreas produces enzymes to aid in digestion. Trypsin and chymotrypsin help you digest proteins; amylase breaks down carbs into sugar for energy and lipase (which works together with bile from the liver) breaks down fats into fatty acids and cholesterol.

Got clay colored stools?

If you don't have enough lipase, your body will have a problem absorbing fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, K and fat and as a result you may have symptoms of poor fat absorptions such fatty stools and diarrhea. Pale or clay-colored stools may be a sign you have a problem with your biliary system which is compromised of your liver, gallbladder and pancreas. See your doctor to get some blood tests done.

Islets of Langerhans

The endocrine gland also has 5% of its cells known as the islets of Langerhans. These are shaped like clusters that regulate pancreatic hormones and control insulin. The most common islet cell you've possibly heard of is --the beta cell which produces insulin.

What Is Acute Pancreatitis?

Pancreatitis happens when the pancreas become inflamed and is a very painful feeling. This pain can be felt in the Right upper abdomen radiating to the back. Acute Pancreatitis is caused by migrated gallstones that block the ducts of the pancreas. Chronic Pancreatitis, on the other hand, is often due to excess alcohol consumption. Other causes of the condition are medications, high triglycerides, abdominal surgery and para-thyroidsim.

Acute pancreatitis signs and symptoms

Upper abdominal pain on the right side of your torso; abdominal pain that radiates to your back; abdominal pain that feels worse after eating; fever; rapid pulse caused by excruciating pain; nausea; possible vomiting; tenderness when palpating the abdomen.

How does someone get Diabetes 1?

Good question! Scientists have established the destruction of beta cells (produced in the Islets of Langerhans) causes insufficient insulin to be produced for the regulation of the body’s blood sugar. Unfortunately. these Beta cells are attacked by the bodies own malfunctioning autoimmune system.

Type 1 diabetes typically appears in childhood, but its onset is possible in adulthood as well.

Why does the Body Destroy itself?

The immune system destroying its own cells is possibly caused by an environmental factor that triggers people with a genetic susceptibility.

How Did My Uncle Get Diabetes 2?

The exact cause of Diabetes 2 is unknown. Risk factors include obesity, genetic factors, poor diet, lack of exercise, hormonal diseases and high levels of cholesterol. It is a chronic disease that happens when the body is unable to regulate blood sugar due to insulin resistance.

A person with pre-diabetes has a blood sugar higher than usual but not high enough for a diagnosis of diabetes. People with this condition must limit meat, have low grease food, eat enriched carbs, alcohol and tobacco minimally or stop entirely.

How To ENRICH YOUR PANCREAS

Drink Plenty of Water

Drink plenty of water as pancreatitis causes dehydration.

Diet and Lifestyle

Diet and lifestyle should be modified to include plenty of exercise, rest and foods rich in omega 3 fatty acids.

Drink Buttermilk

Drink Buttermilk to calm down acute pancreatitis from alcohol ingestion.

Avoid Fatty Foods

Eat clean and whole foods. Avoid fatty foods.

DO NOTHING WITIT LIST!

Do not eat refined sugar, wheat flour, fried food, fast food, hot spicy food and raw garlic.

Western Remedies (non invasive)

Eat small, non-greasy light meals for dinner. Stick to soups and fruit smoothies as they are easy to digest.

Ayurvedic Remedies to Improve Function

Turmeric

One of the primary herbs used to treat pancreatic disorders is ‘Turmeric' which is being studied by medical doctors due to its success in the treatment of inflammatory processes and prevention of pancreatitis.

Indian Gooseberry

Indian gooseberry is recommended for its powerful anti-oxidant properties that help the body rid itself of free radicals that play a role in pancreatitis and other health conditions.

Dandelion

Dandelion root improves the body’sdigestion of fat by enhancing the production of bile.

Licorice Root

Licorice root, like turmeric, is an excellent anti-inflammatory that can help ease the inflammation cascade of pancreatitis and other illnesses.

Diabetic Support Remedies:

The key to diabetic wellness is diet and lifestyle change. Change your eating habits, exercise and choose a high-fiber plant diet. If you have the discipline, you can do it and kick this illness in the ass! Explosive exercises like sprinting once or twice a week, interval training, High-Intensity training for short bursts can strongly improve cell epigenetic and impact the process of sugar metabolism in your cells for diabetics. Subsequently, eating spices whose properties lower sugar such as cinnamon and turmeric can do potent changes and alter a high blood sugar reading on a glucometer.

If you are concerned about your status diabeticus (p.s.not a real word!), because of family history and your current lifestyle (before implementing the changes in this book), then it is absolutely necessary to visit your M.D and order a diabetic screening. Your doctor will then order an HbA1c test and interpret the results for you. This is a common blood test to monitor how well you're managing your diabetes. If your results come back positive for diabetes, you can expect to receive a blood glucose monitoring system as well as a prescription for insulin at the same doctors visit.

It is imperative that you follow your Doctors orders as high levels of sugar in the blood destroy the kidneys, eyes, circulation system and ultimate result in the failure of those organs as well. If you are keen to know your current sugar levels after eating a meal, you may purchase a blood sugar kit online that is tiny and minimal to keep at home.

Whenever you or your loved one want feedback merely take your blood sugar. It's a simple fingerpick and a drop of your blood is used for analysis.

Normal levels should be between 70 mg/dL and 110 mg/dL before meals.

2 hours after meals your level should be less than 140 mg/dL.

If this is not the case and your blood sugar is higher than baseline, then it is time to do some lifestyle changes and make an appointment with a Diabetic Nurse or M.D.
